[qadianism] Re: The Finality of Prophethood - Guidance of the Messenger of Allah(SAW)
By Abdul Aziz @axe.humboldt.edu

I am an Ahmadi. Your assertion that Khatam an nabiyyeen means the last
prophet is wrong. Also you are wrong when you say that there has been a
universal agreement on this meaning. I give you three examples of past
Muslim scholars who died before the advent of Ahmadiyyat and believed that
the term does not mean the last prophet. (1).Maulana Muhammad Qasim
Nanautvi (Founder of the Deoband Madrassa) says,"If another prophet had
appeared during the lifetime of Prophet Muhammad (SAS) the khatamiyyat
would have been valid. ..page 18, Tehzeer an Naas. Maulana Sahib continues
and on page 18 states,"If a prophet appears after the life of Prophet
Muhammad (SAS) even then the khatamiyyat is continued... page 34, Tehzeer
an Naas. He also says, "It is among the commoners that khatam an nabiyyeen
means the last prophet. However, the enlightened people know that there is
no superiority in being the last or the first prophet. How is then the
meaning 'last prophet' correct?...page 4 & 5. Tehzeer an Naas. (2). Syed
Abdul Wahab Asherani on pages 38 & 39 of Kitab al Yawaqeet wal Jawahar
says "Khatam an Nabiyyeen means the last law-bearing prophet. It does not
mean the last in time prophet". He goes on to prove his point by using a
hadith about Kaiser, the Roman Empror.(3).IAbdur Rahman Bin Ahmad Aljami,
on pages 279 and 280 says, "The term khatam an Nabiyyeen means the prophet
whose sharia will not be abrogated by any new prophet. It does not mean
the last in time prophet". For the rest of references please go to
Ahmadiyya web page...www. Ahmadiyya.com. There are a number of such
references. Last it is not just to present evidence that favors you only.
Be God fearing and present the whole evidence. Also Ahmadis never say that
this term has not been controversial. We only say that there have been
ulema on both the sides.
